Gerard jointfir commonly known as Ephedra gerardiana.It is a species of the Ephedra plant. It is native to the mountainous regions of Afghanistan, Bhutan, northern India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sikkim, Tajikistan, and Tibet.The plant is a perennial small shrub, primarily composed of fibrous stalks. It typically grows about 8 inches tall but can sometimes reach up to 24 inches. Gerard’s jointfir is characterized by its small, yellow flowers and round, red, edible fruits.Gerard’s jointfir has been employed as a stimulant and is also used in Ayurvedic medicine. Its tea is traditionally used to treat colds, coughs, bronchitis, asthma, and arthritis.
