BIG CARDAMON

Big Cardamon

(Amomum Subulatum)

“Amomum¬†subulatum Roxb. (Large Cardamom) is a perennial herbaceous crop, cultivated in swampy places across hills around water streams. It is used as flavouring agent to various dishes indigenous to the Eastern Himalayan region particularly Nepal, Bhutan, and India. The seed pods of black cardamom have a strong, camphor-like flavor with a smoky character derived from the method of drying.
Unlike green cardamom, this spice is rarely used in sweet dishes. In traditional Chinese medicine, black cardamom is used for stomach disorders and malaria.Approximately 40% of black cardamom is used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and perfume industries “
